Apple Crisp

Who doesn't love a warm apple crisp topped with a little ice cream. This is a goodie that can be made to suit any lifestyle choice (Even Vegan). Choose apples that are firm so they hold up better in the over and do not turn to mush when cooked. Our choices are usually Pink Ladies or Granny Smith. 



1- A whole bunch of good sized apples (approximately 8 - 10)

2 - 1/2 cup brown sugar

3 - 1/4 cup gluten free flour (Try our Zena's Zap flour) 

4 - 1 tsp. ground cinnamon

5 - 1/2 tsp. ground nutmeg

6 -small pinch of salt

7 - 1 tbsp. Lemon Juice 

8 - 1 tsp. Vanilla Extract


1 - 1 cup gluten free flour (Try our Zena's Zap flour)

2 - 1 1/2 cups rolled oats (available in our food section)

3 - 1 cup brown sugar

4 - 1 tsp. ground cinnamon

5 - 3/4 cup hardened butter ( healthier choice Vegan Butter) Then melted

6 - 1 tsp. vanilla extract


1 - Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees

2 - Peel and cube or slice your apples and mix with all filling ingredients. Mix well so all apple pieces are coated. FYI the best invention ever for this is an old fashion apple peeler. We made this recipe for our duaghter's hockey team's Christmas party. 15 girls along with siblings and parents. A very large apple crumble to say the least. This peeler saved our bacon. We used 6-8 pounds of apples and this thing peeled each one in seconds as well as took the core out and created a long string of apple that we simply cut into smaller chunks to put in the large casserole dish we made it in. 

3 - Transfer apples to greased casserole dish

4 - Prepare all the topping by adding all ingredients in the same bowl you had the apples in. Be sure to add butter last. 

5 - spread topping on top of apples in casserole dish. Best if the topping is lumpy as it will melt in the oven. 

6- Place in oven and bake for approximately 50 minutes until top is nicely browned and bubbling on sides. 

7 - Remove from oven and let cool for approximately 15 minutes 

8 - serve with ice cream, vegan ice cream or vegan whipped cream.
